Dear Colleague,

CALLING ALL CWU CYCLISTS ‘Solidarity through Cycling’

The 5th Annual CWU Cyclo Sportive

Saturday 3rd September 2011 starting at 1030 from the CWU Education and Training Centre at Alvescot Lodge.

If you enjoy cycling and are inspired by the likes of Mark Cavendish in the Tour de France this year, you may be feeling encouraged to get back on your bike. If so, we can provide the perfect opportunity for you to take part in a friendly organised ride for all abilities through beautiful countryside, alongside CWU and other trade union comrades.

And all for a good cause!

Last year we raised over £2000 for the CWU International Development Fund as CWU activists and many other trade unionists cycled through the Cotswolds on a glorious day in September.

This year there will be a 80 mile ride for experienced riders, a 50 mile intermediate route and an 18 mile leisure ride for all abilities. There is limited availability of Bed and Breakfast accommodation on the 2nd and 3rd September or free camping for riders in the grounds of Alvescot Lodge. The routes will be clearly signposted with a map provided. There will be a support vehicle and checkpoints/feed stations en route. Riders will have access to pre ride catering and post ride showers. We have organised a BBQ after the event on 3rd September to which all riders are invited.

Further advice and information will be sent out when we have received your application. The Entry Fees for the 80 mile and 50 mile rides is £20 and for the 18 mile ride is £15 with all proceeds going towards International Trade Union Solidarity.

Please help us to make this year even more of a success by distributing this   information to any cyclists in your Branch and by agreeing to sponsor an entry from your Branch.

Please return the completed attached application form to the Education and Training Department at Alvescot Lodge, Alvescot, Bampton, Oxon, OX18 2PY or fax to 01993 840 960 or email to mtodd@cwu.org

Many thanks for your support for this worthwhile cause.

Best wishes,
